In Our Line of Duty

O. T. #1358  "In Our Line of Duty"

Psalm 119-Part 7
And I will delight myself in Thy commandments, which I have loved. Psalm 119:47

LET IT GLOW

Stanza 6 consists of verses 41-48.
God promises that He would grant mercy and salvation to all His faithful servants (Deut. 28:1-13). by harkening unto the voice of the Lord God, blessings will overtake us whenever we are obeying His commands.
The psalmist was confident that he would be able to answer anyone because God had put the Word of Truth in his mouth. Since goodness and mercy of God answered his prayers, David was determined to keep the law.
If we want to be able to give an answer to those who ask about God, then we need to put His Word in our heart and mind and obey it. I am listening, Lord.

LET IT GROW

Matthew Henry tells us 5 things David promised himself here in the strength of God's grace, that he should be:
  1. free and easy in his duty (verse 45); free from evil and free to do good;
  2. bold and courageous in his duty (verse 46) enough to speak before kings;
  3. cheerful and pleasant in his duty (verse 47), delighting in commandments;
  4. diligent and vigorous in his duty (verse 48) and observation of commandments;
  5. thoughtful and considerate (verse 48) by meditating on God's statues.
That is quite a challenge, right? Which do you need to work on in our line of duty? I could use more thoughtfulness and consideration, as well as cheerfulness and pleasantness. I tend to be too bold as I share God's Word or precept. So I will try to tone it down more.

LET IT GO

                     and be more cheerful and considerate today.
